Mr Muhammad Khan, has practiced as a ENT surgeon at BMI Highfield in Rochdale, Lancashire and is employed by Care UK in Manchester. The GMC imposed various conditions to his licence to practice in the UK are : he cannot perform any surgery he must confine his medical practice to his existing employer Care UK he can only practice in outpatient clinics We welcome these restrictions that the GMC has imposed because our clients – two of Mr Khan’s former patients – have both suffered injuries following what was described to them both as straight forward or ‘routine’ surgery. Bilateral Septoplasty One client of ours was recommended to undergo a procedure called Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for sinus related problems. Another client had a procedure called a Bilateral Septoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery which is also for sinus related problems. Unfortunately, both of our clients suffered an injury as a result of the above procedures: one client received damage to his eye, which required further surgery and has resulted in him losing his vision in that eye. The second client suffered injury to a hole in the dividing wall of the nose and a depression to the bridge of his nose. We cannot comment further on the above cases, suffice to say that they are continuing and we will endeavour to bring both cases to a satisfactory conclusion for our clients.
