A graduate role at Price Slater Gawne is the first step on your pathway to a successful career.
We are a firm that offers graduates the opportunity to manage their own caseload, liaise directly with clients and learn from a highly experienced team within a supportive and collaborative environment.
As a recent graduate, we recognise that you require a team culture in which you can be confident, challenged and given the opportunity to shine. All of our graduates are mentored by a senior solicitor, with regular one-to-one meetings and quarterly check-ins. We have a strong team ethic and an approachable, caring culture, in which every member of the team works together for the benefit of our clients and continued growth and success of the firm.
We look after our people, guide their careers, nurture their progress within the firm, and regularly seek feedback on how they are progressing.
We have a career pathway for all members of the firm that offers clear, fair and attainable progression at all stages. As a firm, we want to work with, and develop our people so that they and the firm are constantly developing. – The sky is the limit for your career aspirations at Price Slater Gawne.
We are forward thinking lawyers. – Since the firm was founded, the culture of remote working with a focus on work/life balance has been in place.
We work to very high standards and expect the best from our people, but we have neither the culture nor expectation of long hours and ensure workloads are always managed appropriately to deliver that: we put your wellbeing first. We have offices in Altrincham, Chester and London, and staff come into the offices as required for their role.
Price Slater Gawne is proud to have supported numerous graduates through their period of recognised training and continue to see them thrive in their careers with the firm. We now include many of those who joined us both prior to and for their training contracts as long-standing solicitors of the firm.
In their own words, some of our current and previous trainees discuss their experience of working at Price Slater Gawne:
Zoe Frawley, Trainee Solicitor, Clinical Negligence: “Since my first day at Price Slater Gawne a year ago, I have felt nothing but support from every member of staff I have worked with. Being a Trainee Solicitor in a fast-growing Clinical Negligence team can be daunting, but with regular supervision and mentoring from senior solicitors, I have quickly been able to progress and develop my skills in readiness for qualifying as a Solicitor. Within the team, you have your own case load to manage, but you are able to collaborate and discuss any issues or queries with colleagues which has been really helpful. Price Slater Gawne also encourage a really strong work life balance which has been really helpful and assisted with managing the stresses which come with being a Trainee Solicitor”.
Abbie Smith, Solicitor, Clinical Negligence: “Price Slater Gawne offers a safe, supportive and encouraging work environment, allowing you to reach your full potential. As a Solicitor, I have always been given opportunities to progress my career by gaining invaluable insight into many aspects of Clinical Negligence claims. Everyone at Price Slater Gawne is supportive and there is a real sense of team spirit”.
Niall Costello, Partner, Clinical Negligence: “I began my career at Price Slater Gawne as a trainee in 2013. I was interested and eager to pursue a career in Claimant Clinical Negligence and no better place to begin than a small but busy niche firm headed by three very experienced and well-regarded solicitors across the fields of Serious Injury.
From day dot I was given responsibility and had the benefit of accessible assistance and support when needed from senior colleagues/supervisors.
Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2014, PSG have supported my development and aspirations with training and obtaining my higher rights of audience and Law Society Clinical Negligence panel membership.
My achievements, experience and work ethic have been rewarded with additional responsibility as a supervisor as well as fulfilling my desire to progress through their career pathway from trainee to Solicitor, to Associate Solicitor, to now Partner.
Joining PSG means joining one of the North West’s leading law firms across each department (Chambers and Legal 500 referred). You’re joining a firm that shares your ambitions and they know it’s your work ethic that will make you succeed. You’ll be working with people who share your passion to innovate in whatever discipline you specialise, and side-by-side with a partner from day one.
There’s a steep learning curve and there will be times when you feel challenged but with PSG’s approach to collaborative and supportive working you’ll be guided by people who have been there before. Your hard work will be rewarded because you’ll have played a part in some of the most significant legal cases/transactions many of your clients will ever have encountered.
You’ll enjoy working at PSG and with your team get to celebrate some great wins and milestones as well and social nights and company events. There’s no better place to learn about the practice of law”.
