Matthew Smith

A Partner in Price Slater Gawne’s Clinical Negligence team, Matt Smith brings with him more than 20 years’ experience as a qualified Solicitor advising clients on the full remit of Clinical Negligence cases – ranging from those with modest value through to complex birth injury claims leading to multi-million-pound settlements.

Matt takes an active role in supervising the case planning process for Price Slater Gawne’s Clinical Negligence Complex Litigation team, as well as assisting with the development and growth of the wider department.

He has accrued an excellent track record of securing positive case outcomes for clients over his career, including personally representing clients at Inquest and successfully bringing multiple complex cases to trial.

Prior to joining the Price Slater Gawne team, Matt was Team Leader in Clinical Negligence complex litigation at a high-profile nationwide law firm and has also held the position of Head of Clinical Negligence at another well-known Manchester firm.

Matt is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and has previously been accredited for Clinical Negligence by the Law Society. He has also worked with the Sepsis Trust on outreach initiatives, appearing on several video podcasts and radio discussions discussing the need for greater public awareness of the signs of the condition.

Outside of work, Matt is passionate about fitness and sports; he is an avid runner and triathlete, and plays squash for local teams in the Bowdon area.
