Careers with Price Slater Gawne

A supportive culture for professional development, a real sense of contributing to a larger purpose

Life at Price Slater Gawne is a great one. We’re a firm that believes in delivering the best possible outcomes not only for our clients but also for our people: that’s why many of our colleagues have been with us since we started out in 2010.

Our values

We look after our people, guide their careers, nurture their progress within the firm, and regularly seek feedback on how they are progressing. All junior colleagues are mentored by senior staff with regular one-to-one meetings. We believe in a strong team ethic and everyone in the firm works together to ensure our continued growth and success. Everything we do is a group effort; lots of firm say it, we actually live it.

Our way of working

Our firm was founded on the basis of remote working so that our people could enjoy the significant benefit of a genuine work/life balance.

We work to very high standards and expect the best from our people, but we have neither the culture nor expectation of long hours and ensure workloads are always managed appropriately to deliver that: we put your wellbeing first. We maintain an HQ in central Altrincham and staff come into the offices as needed for team meetings and face-to-face client appointments.

We recruit entirely based on merit and operate a transparent career development programme, holding quarterly appraisals to ensure you, and we, are on track. We deliver a carefully thought-out programme of knowledge transfer across all our teams so that there are opportunities to move from one to the other if so desired – we don’t put our people in boxes. We actively encourage new ways of thinking, and every opinion is valued.

Gail Galloway, Partner, Wealth Protection: “For me, to have been recognised by way of promotion in my relatively short space of time at Price Slater Gawne speaks volumes as to the firm’s firm focus on employee appreciation and career development. This ethos encourages a mutual employer/employee respect which is integral to providing clients with the highest level of service.”

Sarah Ratcliffe, Senior Associate, Clinical Negligence: “Price Slater Gawne has a detailed career path which sets out what the firm is looking for in employees who want to progress, which gives you something to aim for. Everyone’s really supportive of progression, aiming high and forward thinking.”

Sam Firth, Senior Associate, Executive, Court of Protection: “What struck me from day one was the extent to which the sharing of thoughts and ideas was actively encouraged and welcomed. Despite the freedom of working from home, there’s a much stronger collegiate atmosphere than in many office-based firms I have experienced. The core values were developed during the time I have been working at Price Slater Gawne, and they are so much more than pretty words; they have real substance. There’s a tangibly healthy culture here. Everybody is valued as an important part of the whole.”

Jack Fitzsimons, Senior Associate, Assistant Accounts Manager: “There has always been opportunity to progress within the firm, I have always been interested in the forecasting and reporting aspect of accounts and for the last year I have been given the opportunity to be involved in month end reporting to the senior management team which I enjoy. I have worked at Price Slater Gawne for almost 10 years and I am glad the way of working hasn’t changed too much with the growth of the firm and it remains a great place to work.”

Zoe Frawley, Solicitor, Clinical Negligence: Price Slater Gawne is one of the friendliest places I have worked. I joined at the start of my training contract, and I have always felt comfortable asking for help from people from all levels – everyone has been really approachable and supportive. The working environment is very focused on work-life balance, and that each person is different. There is a big consideration that people work better in different environments, i.e. flexible working between the office and working from home.”

William Dunnington, Paralegal, Wealth Protection & Court of Protection: “Price Slater Gawne has been everything I could wish for in a work environment. Every member of staff is exceptionally talented in their area of practice and committed to using their experience to support the development of early career legal professionals. I have been welcomed by a kind and compassionate team who were more than willing to answer my questions and guide me through new challenges. I have consistently felt supported in my growth, and at no point have I doubted that I am in the right place to launch my legal career.”

Abigail Frost, HR Assistant: Price Slater Gawne is a fantastic place to work for so many reasons. The firm not only wants to do the best for their clients, but for their people as well through a friendly, supportive and flexible way of working with emphasis on a good work-life balance where everyone can thrive. I am grateful to have the opportunity to study for my CIPD level 3 qualification, which has been really beneficial for me and shows the firm’s commitment to investing in their employees and their development.”
